Walter V. Rumans, 1916-2003, Versailles
Walter V. Rumans, 87, of Versailles, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the
Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born June 18, 1916, in Morgan County, a son of Clarence and Dorothy Sargent
Rumans. On Nov. 22, 1941, he married Violet Jane Lawson, who died July 2, 1979.
Mr. Rumans was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a son, Larry Rumans, of Versailles; five daughters, Louise
Roll, of Versailles, Jessie Phillips, of Independence, Ruth Gerlt, of Latham,
Sharon Homan, of Syracuse, and Judy Rogers, of Lee's Summit; 15 grandchildren,
11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. He was also predeceased by a
brother, Bennie Rumans.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral
Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Tom Voth officiating. Burial will be in the
Mt. Nebo Cemetery, near Versailles.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
